Benadryl For Dogs

Benadryl For Dogs – Is it good for them?

Benadryl is an allergy mediciation made specifically for humans, but many people also give it to their dogs.

Benadryl for dogs is typically used for insect bites, ear infections, car sickness and skin irritations, to name but a few of its uses.

Benadryl is possibly the most common brand name of a drug called Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, and has been around for many years.

It seems than Benadryl can in fact be given to your dog and it will help with various ailments.

Benadryl for Dogs – The Right Dosage

The Benadryl dosage for a dog is dependent on his weight, and it is thought to be 1mg of Benadryl for every 1lb in weight.

This means that if your dog weighs 10lbs, the recommended dosage would be 10mg, but I have to say that I wouldn’t consider giving my dog Benadryl unless my Vet said it was OK.  Benadryl for dogs1 Benadryl For Dogs

If it’s appropriate, a Vet will advise on the dosage, and how many times a day to administer Benadryl for the particular ailment your dog has.

Is there any reason not to use Benadryl for your dog?

I have given my dog Benadryl for years now at the advice of my vet so to think that you shouldn’t give it to them now would be heart breaking. I am glad that you confirmed that it is ok to give it to them but make sure the dosage is right. This was a great article and I hope it will help a lot of dog lovers out there.

I think this is great because I have a little guy that is just miserable with allergies. Now that I know I can give him Benadryl safely I will definitely give it a try because I want to do what I can to help him be more comfortable. Thank you for posting this because I had no idea until now that you could do this.

I am happy and thankful that you published this blog. A cat breeder I know once told me about how Benadryle can be used to treat allergies in dogs. I consulted him because my friend’s dogs developed a skin fungus and one of them started licking her paw to no end and until the skin on the paw became raw. The only thing that concerned me was that he indicated that this had to be administered via syringe.

I didn’t realize that you could use human medicine on your dog. This is really good news though because a lot of times the medicine that you would give your dog that comes from the vet is three times more expensive than the medicine you would give your child over the counter but it basically does the same exact thing. Thanks for the great news.
